Terrain & Natural Resources

The terrain of Albania is difficult, with rugged mountains and an Alluvial plain which is poorly drained. In the steep mountains, there are hardly any roads and contact with the outer world is quite difficult. Some tribal societies have flourished in these difficult regions for years now and the difficult terrain is their ally which helps them preserve their culture.
The country had good soil in the river basins as well as lake districts. These are located in a narrow stretch of elevated land which lies in between the mountains and the coastal plains. These areas receive a dependable rainfall each season which allows it to have a beautiful countryside.
Some natural resources found in Albania are Lime Stone, petroleum, copper, iron ore, hydropower and timber.
